Actually named the First United Bank Center at West Texas A&M University. It is the premiere multi-purpose arena space in the Texas Panhandle. The newest sports arena and performance space is located on the campus of WTAMU in Canyon, just a few minutes drive from Amarillo. The center gazes over Interstate-27 towards Palo Duro Canyon. The center has the ability to accommodate events ranging from banquets for guests ranging from 70 to more than 400 to the 2002 Division II NCAA Volleyball National Championships. The center boasts seating capacity for more than 5,000 and floor space to allow for trade shows, craft fairs, concerts and athletic competition. The First United Bank Center is the permanent home for WTAMU Buffs and Lady Buffs Basketball and plays host to numerous high school play-off competitions. This gorgeous facility with its art deco style serves the students of WTAMU and the people of the Panhandle with pride. (from the WTAMU website)
